Well, it's official! The votes are in again and Kurt hit the top of the top this time. Globally! As voted on and reviewed by other artists themselves on the 2.5 million member mega site, Reverbnation. Kurt took the "Hot Country" #1 Spot with his single "Lost Highway" across the world including Paris, Japan, Germany, and all others.
Kurt says " This is about the coolest thing we could have hoped for, and I can't believe we pulled this off".  Kurt goes on to say that it's an tremendous honor to have won this by be being voted on from other artists especially, and it shows that you miss 100% of the shots you never take.  Kurt is slated to perform on the FOX morning show to play "Lost highway" coming up soon. Stay tuned!

It was very evident from the first day of the launch of the March listener's poll to the very last day, that the fans of Kurt Reece, along with visitors attending SXSW wanted him to win and that's exactly what they accomplished.  The votes came pouring in and they never stopped until we finally had to shut it down for the April poll.

One thing for sure,  Kurt Reece has almost no choice but to become a successful singer since the code has been embedded in his DNA at birth.  His father was a Singer/Club owner in the Houston area in the '60's and '70's and even had a recording contract with 20th Century Records.  Getting a very early start in the business himself, Reece recalls sitting and strumming a guitar in his dad's club at the tender age of 5, and no doubt heard a lifetime's worth of country songs during his childhood.

Reece started writing songs at the age of 17 and truly came into his own vocally at age 26 and after forming a band, began to perform and started turning up the heat on his career.  For the last 6 years, he's been hammering out ideas and fine-tuning his songs that are featured on his first album "Old Friend" which filled completely with original songs all written by Reece.

Reece states "I really think that 'Old Friend' is a culmination of a perfect storm of experiences, very focused writing, crossing paths with great people who have helped make it happen, and just great musicianship.  It has been an amazing journey to get to this point and I'm just so happy it has become a reality. "

The album was recorded at Grammy winner Bobby Flores' Yellow Rose Studios in Blanco, Tx.  and anyone who has read any of my reviews in the last 10 years knows that I consider Flores one of the most gifted musicians and producers in the entire state.  His top-flight productions include a roster of the upper-crust session musicians and always have that killer sound.  This one is no exception with names like Ronnie Huckaby and Anthony Bazzani of George Strait's band on piano and keyboards, legendary Randy Reinhard on steel guitar, Jim Kalson on bass, Dan Dreeben on drums and Flores himself on guitar.

These are exciting times for Kurt Reece and you will no doubt be hearing a lot from him in the future with a legion of fans behind him, a great album coming out and a wealth of talent to draw from.  These are things that great careers are made of.
